Get To Know Me --
I’m JJ, a 50‑year‑old illustrator and character designer with more than 35 years of creating worlds, heroes, creatures, and stories. I’m based in Northglenn, Colorado, where I balance life as a husband, dad, and lifelong art addict.
I started as a traditional artist, but the moment digital tools became accessible, I dove in and never looked back. My work pulls from the energy of comics, manga, and video game art, shaped by influences like Jim Lee, Hayao Miyazaki, Akira Toriyama, Norman Rockwell, Bill Watterson, and Chuck Jones.
My creative fuel comes from the classics and the icons — Dungeons & Dragons, Akira, Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, Thundercats, Samurai Jack, Dexter’s Laboratory — the stuff that defined generations and still pushes my imagination today.
My next milestone is big: by the end of 2026, I plan to release my first, independent manga and get it on the shelves of my local comic shops.
